Role Summary
The Ethics & Transparency Officer ensures that all decisions and processes at Built By DAO align with the organization’s core mission and ethical standards. This role promotes trust within the community by overseeing transparency in governance practices, addressing ethical concerns, and fostering accountability. The Ethics & Transparency Officer is instrumental in maintaining an ethical framework that supports decision-making and enhances community trust.
Key Responsibilities
Task Group 1: Ethical Governance Oversight
Establish and uphold ethical guidelines for decision-making and organizational processes.
Monitor governance activities to ensure alignment with Built By DAO’s mission and values.
Provide recommendations to address ethical concerns or dilemmas.
Task Group 2: Transparency Promotion
Develop and implement policies to enhance transparency in governance and operations.
Ensure timely and accurate disclosure of governance decisions and actions to the community.
Oversee the maintenance of accessible records for community review and accountability.
Task Group 3: Ethical Issue Resolution
Serve as the primary contact for reporting and addressing ethical concerns within the organization.
Investigate potential breaches of ethical standards and recommend corrective actions.
Mediate conflicts and disputes related to governance ethics or transparency issues.
Task Group 4: Community Engagement and Education
Organize workshops and resources to educate members on ethical governance practices.
Encourage active member participation in governance by fostering trust and openness.
Communicate regularly with the community about ethics and transparency initiatives.
Task Group 5: Reporting and Continuous Improvement
Track and evaluate the effectiveness of ethics and transparency policies.
Prepare reports for leadership on ethical governance and transparency metrics.
Recommend and implement improvements to uphold ethical standards and community trust.
Skills and Qualifications
Required Skills
Strong understanding of ethical governance principles and community trust-building practices.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for engaging with members and addressing concerns.
Analytical and problem-solving abilities to evaluate governance processes and resolve ethical issues.
Preferred Skills
Familiarity with DAO governance structures and decentralized decision-making.
Experience in conflict resolution or mediation.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Ethics, Public Administration, Governance, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in ethics oversight, transparency management, or governance roles.
Certification in ethics or governance (e.g., Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional, Governance Certification) is a plus.

Timeliness and effectiveness in resolving ethical concerns and promoting transparency.
Community feedback on governance ethics and trust-building efforts.
Adherence to transparency and ethical standards in decision-making processes.

Summary: The Transparency Coordinator supports the Ethics & Transparency Officer by managing records, preparing reports, and assisting with community engagement efforts.
Key Tasks:
Maintain governance records and ensure accessibility for members.
Assist in preparing transparency reports and metrics for leadership and the community.
Help organize educational sessions and workshops on ethics and transparency.
Skills and Qualifications:
Strong organizational and communication skills.
