Role Summary
The Sustainability Officer is responsible for implementing and maintaining sustainability initiatives across Built By DAO’s properties. This role focuses on energy efficiency, waste reduction, and water conservation while monitoring environmental performance to ensure alignment with the organization’s sustainability goals. The Sustainability Officer works collaboratively with property management, residents, and external partners to foster eco-friendly practices and improve overall environmental outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Task Group 1: Sustainability Program Implementation
Develop and execute property-wide sustainability strategies, including energy-saving programs and waste reduction initiatives.
Oversee the installation and maintenance of green infrastructure, such as solar panels, rainwater harvesting systems, and energy-efficient lighting.
Research and recommend innovative practices and technologies to improve property sustainability.
Task Group 2: Monitoring and Reporting
Track key environmental performance metrics, such as energy consumption, water usage, and waste output.
Create detailed sustainability reports and present findings to leadership and stakeholders.
Ensure compliance with local environmental regulations and sustainability certifications (e.g., LEED, WELL).
Task Group 3: Resident and Team Engagement
Educate residents and property staff on eco-friendly practices and the benefits of sustainability initiatives.
Organize workshops and campaigns to encourage participation in waste sorting, energy conservation, and water-saving measures.
Collaborate with the Property Manager and Maintenance Coordinator to align operational practices with sustainability goals.
Task Group 4: Vendor and Partner Coordination
Work with vendors to source eco-friendly products and services for property operations.
Partner with local organizations and government agencies to support community sustainability efforts.
Apply for grants and incentives to fund sustainability projects.
Skills and Qualifications
Required Skills
Strong knowledge of sustainability principles, green building practices, and energy management.
Analytical skills for monitoring environmental metrics and evaluating the impact of sustainability programs.
Effective communication and leadership skills for engaging teams and residents.
Preferred Skills
Familiarity with certifications and frameworks such as LEED, WELL, or ISO 14001.
Proficiency with sustainability tracking tools and reporting software.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, or a related field.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in sustainability or environmental management.
Certification in sustainability or environmental systems (e.g., LEED AP, ENV SP) is preferred.
Performance Metrics
Reduction in energy, water, and waste usage compared to baseline metrics.
Resident and staff participation rates in sustainability programs.
Positive feedback from residents and leadership on environmental initiatives.
Key Activities
Conduct regular audits to monitor environmental performance and identify improvement opportunities.
Design and implement programs to reduce the carbon footprint of property operations.
Work with the Property Manager to integrate sustainability goals into daily operations.

Sustainability Assistant – 2D3-S1
Summary: The Sustainability Assistant supports the Sustainability Officer by helping to implement programs, collect data, and engage residents in eco-friendly initiatives. This role provides entry-level experience in sustainability management.
Key Tasks:
Assist with data collection for energy, water, and waste metrics.
Help organize workshops, events, and campaigns promoting sustainability practices.
Conduct preliminary research on new sustainability technologies and programs.
Skills and Qualifications:
Basic knowledge of sustainability principles and environmental regulations.
