Role Summary
The Environmental Specialist ensures that all construction activities align with Built By DAO’s commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship. This role focuses on minimizing environmental impact by implementing sustainable practices, monitoring waste management, and tracking energy use and emissions. The Environmental Specialist works closely with project managers, site teams, and regulatory authorities to ensure compliance with environmental regulations while optimizing sustainability practices.
Key Responsibilities
Task Group 1: Environmental Compliance
Ensure construction activities comply with local, state, and federal environmental regulations.
Conduct environmental impact assessments for all construction sites and projects.
Maintain detailed records of compliance measures and regulatory reporting requirements.
Task Group 2: Sustainability Implementation
Develop and implement sustainable construction practices, including energy-efficient methods and waste reduction strategies.
Advise project teams on materials and techniques to minimize environmental impact.
Monitor and optimize the use of renewable energy sources where applicable.
Task Group 3: Monitoring and Reporting
Track energy consumption, emissions, and waste generation during construction projects.
Prepare detailed environmental performance reports and recommend improvements.
Use data analytics to identify trends and measure the effectiveness of sustainability initiatives.
Task Group 4: Education and Advocacy
Provide training to site teams on sustainable construction practices and environmental awareness.
Act as a liaison between Built By DAO and regulatory bodies, community groups, and environmental organizations.
Advocate for innovation in sustainable construction and promote environmentally responsible decisions.
Skills and Qualifications
Required Skills
Strong knowledge of environmental regulations, sustainability principles, and green building practices.
Analytical skills for monitoring environmental metrics and evaluating sustainability initiatives.
Excellent communication skills for training, reporting, and stakeholder collaboration.
Preferred Skills
Familiarity with certifications and frameworks such as LEED, WELL, or ISO 14001.
Proficiency with environmental monitoring tools and software.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in environmental management within the construction industry.
Certification in environmental management or sustainability (e.g., ENV SP, LEED AP) is preferred.
