Role Summary
The Chief Governance Officer (CGO) leads the Governance Division, setting the vision and strategy for governance standards, policies, and practices that align with DAO principles and Built By DAO’s mission. This role ensures compliance with legal and ethical standards, promotes transparency in governance processes, and oversees the effective functioning of all governance operations. The CGO plays a key role in fostering trust and accountability within the organization and its community.
Key Responsibilities
Task Group 1: Governance Strategy and Standards
Develop and implement governance standards, policies, and frameworks in alignment with DAO principles.
Define long-term governance goals and ensure alignment with Built By DAO’s strategic objectives.
Monitor emerging trends in decentralized governance and adapt practices accordingly.
Task Group 2: Oversight and Leadership
Provide strategic leadership to all teams within the Governance Division, including operations, analytics, and compliance.
Establish performance metrics for governance activities and ensure teams meet their objectives.
Oversee the implementation of policies to ensure ethical, transparent, and efficient governance processes.
Task Group 3: Compliance and Risk Management
Ensure that all governance activities comply with local, national, and international legal and regulatory standards.
Collaborate with the Legal & Compliance Officer to identify and mitigate governance risks.
Lead periodic audits of governance operations to maintain accountability and identify areas for improvement.
Task Group 4: Transparency and Ethical Practices
Promote transparency across all governance activities, ensuring members have access to clear and accurate information.
Work closely with the Ethics & Transparency Officer to uphold ethical standards and foster trust within the community.
Address member concerns related to governance practices and decision-making processes.
Task Group 5: Stakeholder Engagement and Reporting
Represent Built By DAO in external engagements with regulatory bodies, community leaders, and industry stakeholders.
Prepare and deliver comprehensive reports on governance activities, metrics, and improvements to the Executive Leadership Team.
Foster active member participation in governance processes through education and outreach initiatives.
Skills and Qualifications
Required Skills
Deep knowledge of DAO governance principles, decentralized decision-making, and blockchain technology.
Strategic leadership and organizational skills to oversee complex governance structures.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills to engage with diverse audiences.
Preferred Skills
Expertise in compliance, risk management, and policy development.
Familiarity with data analytics and governance metrics tracking.
Qualifications
Master’s degree in Public Administration, Governance, Law, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Minimum of 10 years of experience in governance leadership or a related field, with at least 5 years in a senior management role.
Certification in governance or compliance (e.g., Certified Governance Professional, CCEP) is highly advantageous.

Summary: The Governance Leadership Coordinator supports the CGO by managing schedules, preparing reports, and coordinating communication with governance teams and external stakeholders.
Key Tasks:
Organize governance leadership meetings and prepare agendas and materials.
Track and compile metrics for governance performance reports.
Act as a liaison between the CGO and governance teams to ensure smooth operations.
Skills and Qualifications:
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Familiarity with governance platforms and compliance tools.
Experience in executive support or governance operations is preferred.
Performance Metrics:
Accuracy and timeliness in preparing reports and coordinating schedules.
