Role Summary
The Construction Scheduler is responsible for developing and maintaining detailed project schedules that optimize task sequencing, resource allocation, and workload distribution. This role ensures that construction projects are executed efficiently, on time, and within budget by coordinating with project managers, site supervisors, and contractors. The Construction Scheduler plays a critical role in mitigating risks and preventing delays by maintaining a clear timeline and anticipating potential bottlenecks.
Key Responsibilities
Task Group 1: Schedule Development
Create comprehensive project schedules that outline tasks, milestones, and deadlines.
Incorporate input from project managers, contractors, and team leads to ensure accuracy.
Define task dependencies and optimize sequencing for efficiency.
Task Group 2: Monitoring and Updating
Track project progress and update schedules to reflect completed tasks, delays, or changes in scope.
Conduct regular reviews of the schedule with project stakeholders to address challenges proactively.
Adjust timelines and resource allocation to account for unforeseen delays or resource constraints.
Task Group 3: Coordination and Reporting
Collaborate with the Construction Project Manager and Site Supervisor to align schedules with on-site activities.
Provide detailed reports on project timelines, task progress, and potential risks.
Communicate schedule updates to stakeholders, ensuring transparency and alignment.
Skills and Qualifications
Required Skills
Proficiency in project scheduling software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project, or similar tools).
Strong analytical skills for identifying task dependencies and optimizing workflows.
Excellent communication skills for collaborating with teams and presenting schedule updates.
Preferred Skills
Experience with construction management processes and resource allocation.
Knowledge of risk management techniques for anticipating and mitigating delays.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Minimum of 3 years of experience in construction scheduling or project management.
Certification in scheduling or project management (e.g., PMI-SP) is a plus.
Performance Metrics
Percentage of projects completed on or ahead of schedule.
Accuracy of initial project schedules compared to actual timelines.
Feedback from project managers and site teams on schedule clarity and effectiveness.
Key Activities
Develop and distribute Gantt charts and critical path analyses to project teams.
Monitor daily progress on-site and ensure schedules are adhered to.
Communicate potential delays and recommend solutions to the project team.
