Role Summary

The Data Collection Specialist is responsible for managing and organizing data related to Built By DAO’s governance activities. This role ensures the accurate and comprehensive collection of information, supporting the Governance Analyst and other teams in their efforts to evaluate and improve governance processes. By maintaining well-organized records, the Data Collection Specialist facilitates data-driven decision-making and transparency in governance operations.


Key Responsibilities

Task Group 1: Data Collection

  • Gather data related to governance activities, including voting participation, decision outcomes, and member engagement metrics.

  • Ensure the accuracy and completeness of collected data by validating sources and cross-checking records.

  • Use data collection tools and platforms to streamline and automate the process where possible.

Task Group 2: Data Management

  • Organize and maintain governance-related data in secure and accessible formats.

  • Develop and implement data management protocols to ensure consistency and compliance with organizational policies.

  • Regularly update data sets to reflect the latest governance activities and decisions.

Task Group 3: Support for Analysis

  • Provide collected data to the Governance Analyst in a timely and organized manner.

  • Collaborate with analysts to identify gaps or inconsistencies in the data and resolve them.

  • Assist in preparing data for reporting, visualization, and presentation to stakeholders.

Task Group 4: Reporting and Documentation

  • Create summaries and reports of collected data for use by governance teams and leadership.

  • Document data collection methodologies and protocols to ensure repeatability and reliability.

  • Maintain an archive of governance-related records for transparency and historical reference.


Skills and Qualifications

Required Skills

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills for managing large volumes of data.

  • Proficiency with data collection tools and techniques, including digital and manual methods.

  • Basic knowledge of data management and record-keeping best practices.

Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with DAO governance platforms and participation tracking systems.

  • Experience with spreadsheet and database tools such as Excel, Google Sheets, or Airtable.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Management, Public Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in data collection, data management, or administrative roles.

  • Certification in data management or governance support (e.g., Certified Data Management Professional) is advantageous.


Performance Metrics

  • Accuracy and completeness of collected governance data.

  • Timeliness in providing data to the Governance Analyst and other teams.

  • Feedback from governance teams on the quality and usability of data.


Key Activities

  • Collect and validate governance data from voting platforms, member records, and other sources.

  • Organize data into accessible formats for analysis and reporting.

  • Support the preparation of governance reports and dashboards by providing accurate data.

Summary: The Data Collection Assistant supports the Data Collection Specialist by helping gather and validate data, preparing records, and maintaining organizational standards.

  • Organize records and assist in maintaining data archives.

Skills and Qualifications:
