Role Summary
The Inspection & Compliance Officer is responsible for conducting final project inspections to ensure that all construction meets regulatory and quality standards. This role manages compliance documentation, resolves outstanding issues, and works closely with project teams to ensure a smooth transition from construction to property management. The Inspection & Compliance Officer serves as the final checkpoint for ensuring projects are delivered safely, sustainably, and in alignment with Built By DAO’s mission.
Key Responsibilities
Task Group 1: Final Inspections
Conduct detailed inspections of completed projects to verify adherence to quality and safety standards.
Check compliance with local building codes, zoning regulations, and organizational guidelines.
Create comprehensive inspection reports documenting findings and required corrective actions.
Task Group 2: Compliance Documentation
Maintain and organize all compliance-related documentation, including inspection reports and regulatory submissions.
Ensure all project records meet legal and organizational requirements for audits and future reference.
Coordinate with Permit & Regulatory Specialists to resolve discrepancies or incomplete compliance measures.
Task Group 3: Issue Resolution
Identify outstanding compliance or quality issues and develop corrective action plans.
Collaborate with site supervisors, contractors, and tradespeople to address and resolve issues promptly.
Verify that all corrective actions are completed to satisfaction before issuing final project approval.
Task Group 4: Handover Coordination
Coordinate final project handover to property management or owners, ensuring all compliance measures are satisfied.
Provide detailed reports and certifications for use by property managers or regulatory bodies.
Participate in post-project reviews to identify lessons learned and process improvements.
Skills and Qualifications
Required Skills
Strong knowledge of building codes, regulatory compliance, and quality standards.
Detail-oriented with the ability to identify and document deficiencies accurately.
Excellent organizational and communication skills for managing documentation and stakeholder collaboration.
Preferred Skills
Experience with inspection and compliance management software.
Familiarity with sustainability and green building certifications (e.g., LEED, WELL).
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction inspection or compliance management.
Certification in quality assurance or compliance (e.g., ICC Certification, CQE) is preferred.
Performance Metrics
Number of projects inspected and approved on the first attempt.
Timeliness of completing final inspections and resolving outstanding issues.
Feedback from project teams and property managers on compliance documentation and issue resolution.
Key Activities
Perform detailed walkthroughs of completed projects to verify compliance and quality.
Cross-check project plans and regulatory requirements during inspections.
Prepare final inspection reports and corrective action plans for project managers and stakeholders.

Reporting tools for documenting and sharing findings with project teams.

Summary: The Inspection Assistant supports the Inspection & Compliance Officer in conducting inspections and managing compliance documentation. This entry-level role provides valuable hands-on experience in quality and regulatory compliance within the construction industry.
Key Tasks:
Assist with on-site inspections, taking notes and documenting findings under supervision.
Prepare preliminary compliance reports and maintain organized documentation.
Coordinate with site teams to gather information needed for inspections and audits.
Skills and Qualifications:
Basic knowledge of construction practices and regulatory requirements.
Strong organizational and observational skills.
Pursuing or holding a degree in Construction Management or a related field is preferred.
