When you join Built By DAO, you agree to allow us to use photos, videos, and recordings of you for community and promotional purposes. This page explains exactly what you're consenting to, where your media may appear, how you can revoke consent, and what rights you retain.

Perpetual License (Current Model)
Built By DAO operates under a perpetual license for media use. Here's what that means:

Share with third parties for purposes outside the DAO's mission

π How to Revoke Consent
You can revoke media consent at any time. Here's how the process works:
Step 1: Submit Revocation Request

I would like to revoke my named likeness usage consent effective immediately. I am comfortable with group photo usage but no longer want to be featured in solo photos or testimonials. Please remove featured photos from my member profile and unscheduled social posts.

We'll confirm receipt of your request within 48 hours and provide:

Questions About Revocation?
Will revoking hurt my standing?
No. Revocation is a right. It won't affect your rank, EQTBLT, or membership.
Can I revoke just part of consent?
Yes. You can keep group photos but revoke named likeness, or vice versa.
What if I change my mind?
You can re-consent anytime by contacting [email protected].
Does revocation apply retroactively?
No. Only future use is restricted. Already-published materials remain.

Your media consent is part of your membership agreement. You do not receive additional payment beyond your regular EQTBLT compensation for contributing:

Note: Once content is published online, we can't control how others use it. They may screenshot, share, or repost with or without credit. This is standard for public content.
Agreements with Partners
When we share with partners, we:
Request they use media for stated purpose only
Ask them to credit Built By DAO and you
Prefer they link back to our site
Request they remove media if asked
However: Once shared, we can't guarantee partners comply. Built By DAO maintains the right to revoke sharing, but we can't retrieve already-distributed materials.
Individual Likeness Sales
We do NOT:

General Consent
Q: Do I have to consent to photos? A: Photo consent is required as part of membership. If you have strong concerns, contact [email protected] to discuss alternatives before joining.
Q: Can I change my consent level after joining? A: Yes. You can upgrade from group photos to named likeness, or downgrade from named likeness to group photos only. Email [email protected] to adjust.
Q: What if I'm uncomfortable being photographed at a specific event? A: Let your project lead or the event organizer know in advance. We'll accommodate where possible (you might work off-camera, or we'll avoid close-ups).
Media Use
Q: Will you use my photo without telling me? A: If you've consented, yesβwe won't notify you each time. But you can check what's been published by searching "Built By DAO [your name]".
Q: Can my photo be used in advertising? A: Yes, for Built By DAO's own marketing and advertising. Not for third-party products (unless you separately consent).
Q: Will you ask permission before using my testimonial? A: We'll ask if we're doing a formal interview. If we quote something you said in a meeting or public comment, we may use it without asking (but will credit you).
Revocation & Removal
Q: How long does it take to remove photos after I revoke? A: 7 days maximum from confirmation of your request. Social media may take longer due to platform delays.
Q: If I revoke consent, will photos already published be removed? A: We'll remove solo/featured photos from our channels, but already-published group photos, archived materials, and photos on other websites may remain (see Revocation Limitations).
Q: Can I revoke consent for just one photo? A: Yes. Email [email protected] with the specific photo and location (e.g., "Twitter post from Jan 15, 2025 with me at The Foundry").
Editing & Compensation
Q: Will you edit my photo to make it look better (or worse)? A: We may do light color/lighting edits for consistency. We won't edit your face or change the context. Concerns about specific edits can be raised with [email protected].
Q: Do I get paid extra for photos or testimonials? A: No. Photo consent and media participation are part of your membership, already compensated through EQTBLT.
Q: Can I use Built By DAO photos in my portfolio? A: Yesβphotos of your work are yours to use (non-confidential materials only). If identifiable DAO members are in the photo, ask them first.
Minors & Privacy
Q: Can my 16-year-old help at The Foundry and be in photos? A: Not as a member. Minor participation happens through our volunteer/youth programs with parental consent and separate media agreements.
Q: What if I'm in a group photo but don't want to be identified? A: Let us know. We'll use group captions ("Left to Right" without names) or crop you out if possible.
Legal & Enforcement
Q: What if someone uses my photo without the DAO's permission? A: Contact [email protected] with evidence. We can request removal and pursue legal action if needed.
Q: Is this binding? What if I didn't read it carefully? A: Yes, it's binding as part of your membership agreement. Read it carefully before consenting. Questions? Ask before signing.

Once something is published to the internet, we can't guarantee permanent removal. This is why consent before publication is critical.
